These guys just make really good music! In 1995 there was no one between Nuremberg and Newseeland who couldn't sing along - "Lemon Tree" is Fools Garden's greatest hit. It was born when lead singer Peter Freudenthaler was waiting for his girlfriend. The waiting was worth it, even if the lyrics suggest otherwise. The likable song about the lemon tree conquered the charts in 40 countries. Fools Garden won gold and platinum records, the Bambi award, the "Golden Tuning Fork" and the award "Echo". In Germany "Lemon Tree" was sold 900.000 times.
One hit wonder? Perhaps, but meanwhile both "Lemon Tree" and Fools Garden have become an evergreen. Taking their time to write their songs is more important to the Swabians than selling out stadiums in Asia. The same goes for reaching out to their fans and playing the music they (and we) like. And yes: "Lemon Tree" is part of it.
Since 1991 the band from Pforzheim has occupied this casual, happy sound and has been singing songs about the small but important things in life. Peter Freudenthaler, Volker Hinkel, Jan Hees, Dirk Blümlein, Thorsten Kiefer and Gabriel Holz create music that makes you sing and dance along. Handmade, authentic, real. It's just fantastic music!
