In 2020 they celebrate a special anniversary: Since 1980 the band Münchener Freiheit has been inspiring people with harmonic vocals, poetic lyrics and melodies you will not forget. They still rock the stage.
Aron Strobel, Micha Kunzi, Alex Grünwald and Rennie Hatzke look back on a history of 40 years, 20 albums and several gold records and music awards. Since 2012 womanizer Tim Wilhelm is their lead singer, bringing fresh blood to the band at exactly the right time. The latest albums "Mehr" (2013) and "Schwerelos" (2016) prove it.
But of course it's all about the hits the band had in the 1980s. "Ohne dich", "Tausendmal Du" and "So lang' man Träume noch leben kann" have left footprints on their fans' hearts. But even without any nostalgia: You can love this band at any age - seriously. Even the Berlin Public Transportation Agency covered "Ohne dich" for an image campaign.
Back in the day the Münchener Freiheit was part of the "New German Wave", today their records rank as "Schlager music". But who cares about the label. Even after four decades: When they're on stage the five musicians always prove that they can thrill every generation.
